Not sure when,
probably in high school,
probably the annual hiking tournament
that I started to learn the skills of hiking.
It wasn't till when I was in Tassie that
I started to learn the joy of it.
The joy of no other sports could offer.
It could be a jolly day with a group of mates.
It could also be a few hours solemnly,
walking on your own
in the woods of unknown.
The breathe that you pushed through
reminded you that your life belongs to no one
but you.
The steps, the scenery,
birds, wombats, and the occasional
Kookaburra remind you that
the world do not belong to your kind,
but peasant lives of others too.
Where there is no time, and nothing matters.

Gunung Rajah via Bentong
Had been always wanted to do the Rajah trail long time ago, but it's always either timing of the date doesn't match my schedule or the hiking troop is full.
Lucky to have met a few friends during my other trip to Korbu, and hence!
This semi-santai trip IS BORNED!
Brought along gf and her sis for trip. According to them, this is the belated-almost-forgotten-if-not-wou-have-avoided hiking a.k.a slimming trip.
We reached the trailhead around 6.50am-ish, and weather was not good. It was drizzling at that time, so worried that the river currents will be too strong to be crossed. But, luckily all was fine during the hike.
After a short brief at the car park, we started our hike.
7.00am - Start from Chamang Waterfall (I've never notice there is an entrance on the right if you are looking at the waterfall from the carpark)
8.15 am - Reached the Gunung Rajah main signage
9.55 am - River crossing
11.00am - Lata Naning
We were all with full load backpacks, so it took us approx. 4hours to reach Lata Naning, campsite of the day. The campsite was really packed with UM Cadet Police and almost 90% of the campsite had been taken up.
Before proceeding to summit, we set our tents, washed up a little. By the time I pulled out my tent, a friend informed me that only 3 guys (including me) out of our 14 man troop is going after the summit.
Well, 3-man cell group, sounded pretty fun, and proven. BL led the way, followed with Pang and me sweeping at the back. It's been some time since I got to do a speed hike with friends, so the endorphine did kicked in a little. >=D
There is only one word to describe our way up - WET!
When we were our half way up, it rained like the hell had opened up, which made the trip even more slippery. There was a section where we have to sort of pull our self up using a rope. I tried not to rely too much on the rope unless I have to. I know my weight....haahha
After 3 hours of pushing (ya, like giving birth) we made it in 3 pieces. DAEBAK!
Sadly, the peak had no view, no shelter with minute little sunshine =S
We had some munch, took some photos, contemplating on the uphill battle *tak habis habis* then decided it's time to "fly" down.
On our way down, BL decided to go full force and fly down. Damn~ fast and furious. *so worried for Pang as I saw him falling from his slippery shoes* But still, biar cepat, asalkan selamat....haha. Glad, that we all made it down unharmed *I think* and still in time for dinner! MAIN POINT
The moment we see the water holes, we knew we are BACK AT THE CAMPSITE!!
Nothing beats a nice cool river bath and followed with a Nasi Lemak for dinner!
Not much activity at night, besides laying on a huge river rock and contemplating again all the sins we had done *bullshit*. It was a good night and we headed out near noon the next day after breakie.
Till here then.
May more hikes and camps! AMEN~ hahhah

G Semangkok 1.8km+ elev
Been some time since last update
(last post was actually raya..... now is already Raya Haji)
>___<
Recently did another major hike at Gunung Semangkok with a few friends.
We spent 2 days to complete the hike (including camp)
First Day (7.5 hours)
Start - Pine Tree Peak - Twin Peak - Helipad - Sungai Merah Campsite
Second Day (15 hours)
Sg Merah Campsite - Semangkok Peak - Sg Merah Campsite - Twin Peak - Pine Tree peak - Start
7.5 hours on the first day and almost 15 hours on the second.
Yes, I know..... gila babi weyh.(0 0)
But, well, if you hike with the right group,
it's never a bad feeling. Gotta thank the trio who hiked along.
The worst thing is I got stung by a bee,
which followed with an allergic reaction. (1st timer)
Body felt feverish, covered with hives while
right arm & hand swollen like a pork knuckle. (YUM! hah)
Luckily, nothing serious really happen,
but I found that it feels more tiring with the allergic reaction on.
We had an encounter with an unknown creature
(was size of small car according to one of my mates)
The most creepy thing is this happened in the dark, 4am ish.
When you see nothing but shadows. Woooooo~
Hmm....what's next? =S

长假
![]() |
Back of BalikPulau |
Laksamana Hill
和 Eagle Point.

"Bad times never get told,
good times never grow old."
Holden Astra,
Coles, Wollies, Kmart

settle down. Nicey ~

Gunung Liang 梁山
Joined a group seasoned hikers for a day hike to Gunung Liang yesterday and the hike was really satisfying. *provided that you are the kind of person who enjoys 12 hours on non-stop walking in the jungle.
To give you a sense of its scale..... if you were to compare it to Selangor's highest peak - Gunung Nuang , Gunung Liang is 20% tougher. And it's altitude is slightly higher too. (at 1993m)
The top was rather misty and mossy, but we were lucky that we were blessed with good weather. However, it was the other way round when we were on our way down.
It rained so heavily....... and I think I have just used up all my slip and fall quota for 6 months.
