Chasing fish and aurora australis

 Again, went fishing with classmates at our old spot.
The weather was pretty good and the good thing is that there's barely any wind!

FOCUSING......

Unfortunately, lady luck's not really on our side that day,

Only caught a sizeable cod and numerous small&illegal flatheads and cods.
*SIGH*

At first we planned to fish till late evening, around 10-ish.

But, AuAu suggested to try out our luck on something else instead of fish.

It's the chasing of
AURORA AUSTRALIS!

aka 南极光！！

He got an app on his phone for aurora alert and 

the rating was freaking high for the entire evening!

He said on a usual day, it's always around 20-30%,

but that night was 75%!!!!!

Without further ado, we packed all the stuffs and headed South to avoid the city light. (you ain't going to see any aurora when there's city light or fullmoon)

Extra knowledge:  Aurora Australis normally presents itself in apple-green strip topped with red/tangerine strip. If you were to use up all the luck in your entire life in a night, you might see a purple/indigo strip as well!!!

We tried a few places that are further from the city (like 30 minutes away),and the most important thing is there has to be minimum cloud in the sky and best seen during a new moon period (no moon).

It's winter over here and of course, COLD~
We waited along a street that has no street lights and has little trees for like 3 hours.

When Aurora is weak, it is almost invisible by naked eyes. But our eyes can detect them for sure. I know it's hard to understand my statement, but when you see it, you'll get it. It'll appear like tiny light pillars when you view with naked eyes.

Waited 3 hours for that 1 minute.... oh God, why most beautiful things always live short?

My compact camera is totally out when it comes to taking astronomical photos.

But, at least I got friends who have better cameras.

 I shall not forget this night,
the night we got to see 6 shooting stars,
and a minute of light curtain wavering infront of our eyes.
 We shall meet again!

p/s: According to meteorologists, we get to see aurora more frequent that ever (in Tassie) due to the rigorous solar wind activity, which will only last till the end of this year! *GASP*!
